Bert Fulks – Founder/Director/Knucklehead

With a degree in Comprehensive Social Sciences, Bert’s “adult” life began as an educator, teaching World History and Psychology in central Ohio.  He now splits time as a husband, father, writer, speaker, musician, craftsman, small business manager, backpacker, camper ... (it's a long list).

Bert fell in love with a beauty in the 10th grade (yep, married her … and yep, still married).  Along with Empty Stone Ministry, he and his wife, Laura, run a veterinary practice in West Virginia where they live with their three kids (sure, the oldest two are away at college, but still come home and stake claims to whatever is in the refrigerator), two old dogs, and two dumpster cats.

And the rest?

Christian Outreach Ministries

But Jesus answered, “I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!”

Luke 19:40

Empty Stone Ministry, INC., is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian Ministry based in West Virginia.  Empty Stone Ministry, INC., is non-denominational and though we have various churches and businesses who graciously help support this ministry, we are not directly affiliated with any other organization.  Our mission is to boldly share Jesus' radical message of restoration and help others recover the life of passion and joy that has been stolen by an enemy who opposes the freedom of our hearts.  Following Jesus' greatest command, we love God and we love others.  Everything else we do stands on those two pillars of faith.

There are so many folks whose hearts and hands play a role in this ministry.  Stretching across the country, they are teachers, attorneys, pastors, counselors, musicians, writers, salespeople, steelworkers, hunters, business leaders, firemen, husbands and wives, sons and daughters, brothers and sisters.  And we are all of those things.  However, neither those titles/roles, nor the plaques and certificates on our walls qualify us or truly define us.  If you ask us individually who we are, Brennan Manning provides the script for the perfect answer:

“My deepest awareness of myself is that I am deeply loved by Jesus Christ and I have done nothing to earn it or deserve it.”

--B. Manning, The Ragamuffin Gospel
